AECHMEA ‘Blanchetiana Group’
Aechmea blanchetiana is a favourite plant for landscaping in Florida and Queensland gardens. The problem is that very few are properly identified and many are hybrids. Seed has been grown from berries collected from a mother plant with no thought made to probably cross fertilisation with other plants in the garden. Rob Smythe in Queensland has tried to seek some order but very little has been done in Florida – to date. So those that we treat as part of this Group are but a part of the full story. Entering Blanchetiana Group in the notes section in Advanced Search will give a list of these. This entry 10/2011 by D. Butcher
