Plant grown in Australia since the late 1970’s under various names of Aechmea macrochlamys, Portea fosteriana and Streptocalyx poeppigii and does not agree with any of these. It was decided to call this plant Aechmea ‘Macfoster’. Plant is 110cms diameter, 60cms. high, 90cms. tall in spike, inflorescence from 19cms to 30cms.long, 10cms. diameter.
