AECHMEA ‘Lemon’ | |||
Mature rosette to 1 metre diameter x 1.5 metres tall. Erect, branched inflorescence to 2 metres tall, typical of Ae. blanchetiana. Distinctive lemon yellow foliage which stays that permanent colour even in shade and during seasonal changes (not sun induced). Distributed by Tropiflora Nursery (Florida) in the early 1990s, presumably unnamed and from Brazilian stock. Advice received is that this cultivar breeds fairly true from self-set seed. There appear to be several slightly different clones in cultivation. One Florida clone has outspreading rosette conformation, whereas Australian clones have a more upright growth habit (some ex South Africa as seeds/plants). Reg. Doc. 1/2014 and named by G. Lawn.
