Mature, funnel-form rosette to 35cms. high, flaring at the top. In strong light and with restricted feeding, scurfed, brown-spined, mid-red arching leaves with redder patches,slight silver cross-banding plus characteristic indents to the leaf blades. Erect spike of vermillion scape bracts and compact column of yellow flowers. Wild-collected form of Ae. nudicaulis, from Morro do Telegrafo (meaning Telegraph Hill), Guaratiba, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Named by persons unknown and iimported into U.S.A. in the 1980s.
