Huge, mature rosette to over 2 metres diameter x 1 metre high. Leathery, arching, mid-green leaves striated cream / yellow with retrorse black spines with leaf blades each 8.5cm. wide. A giant, striated species wild-collected in the 1980s in Brazil on an expedition with Roberto Burle Marx. This cultivar has a growth habit like Aechmea sphaerocephala, producing pups on short, stout, woody stolons. A specimen grown by New South Wales, Australia grower Peter Tristram has flowered (Feb. 2018) but its identity.is yet to be verified. Reg. Doc. 5/2016 by Eloise Beach. Country of origin: Brazil | |||
