Mature, huge rosette up to 1.5 metres diameter x 1 metre high. In strong light, broad, mid-green / yellow arching leaves, marginated cream and flushed pink. Erect, red-stemmed, branched, pyramidal-shaped spike to 2 metres high of dense golden ovaries, coral red sepals and orange flowers which blacken when spent. The long-lasting inflorescence turns burnished orange over several months. A vegetative, variegated sport off Aechmea leptantha (formerly Portea leptantha) , exact origin unknown but prominently released unnamed in 2010 by Bullis Bromeliads, Florida. Reg.
