From the collection at Marie Selby Botanic Gardens in Sarasota, Florida: 'This plant was wild-collected by Wally Berg (along with Nahoum & Anderson) in ParanĂ¡, Brazil, in the vicinity of Martinhos-Morretes on August 7, 1997. The collection number is BAB 223.' Tall, solid, tubular rosette 40cm. high (to 60cm. in flower) whose stiff leaves suffuse plain yellow-green to pinkish bronze and red margins, plus brown spines in strong light. The foliage reverse has prominent white cross-banding , together with the characteristic "thumbnail imprint" mid-leaf. Substantial, very showy, scarlet bracted and yellow-flowered inflorescence.
