Mature, open, vase-shaped, largish rosette to 60cm. diameter. Scurfed, broad, arching, distinctly silvery grey-green-based, black-spined leaves with wide, spaced brownish black cross-banding. Erect spike typical of Ae. chantinii with flared / hanging scarlet scape bracts and a compact branched inflorescence of yellow ovaries and gold flowers.
